If you’re going to go skiing or snowboarding, snow goggles are a fact of life. You can’t expect to be safe or happy out there without proper protection for your eyes. Not only is it bright, but all that wind on your eyes isn’t too comfortable, either.

When you’re getting snow goggles, it’s best to get a pair that fits well, offers full UV protection, and which has no air holes to let air in and irritate your eyes as you’re moving. Depending on the kinds of days you snowboard or ski on, you may also want to select your lens color accordingly. Pink, silver mirrored lenses are great for most conditions, but purple lenses are great for dark or overcast days.

Quality is also key - make sure you choose a brand that’s sturdy and well-constructed. Below, we’ve chosen to spotlight some of the best Oakley Snow Goggles.

Surfboard leashes are designed to help you safely and easily keep track of your surfboard, even if you should fall. Although early surfers didn’t generally use surfboard leashes, surfers today know better. It’s not cool to go without one, it just increases the odds that you’ll waste half your day looking for your board.

When you pick a surfboard leash, you need to consider two things - the size of your surfboard and the size of the waves you’ll be surfing. If you have a 7 foot surfboard, you probably want a 7 foot surfboard leash. You’ll also be determining a thickness - if you’re surfing smaller waves, you’ll go with a surfboard leash that has a thinner diameter. If you’re going to surf big waves, you’ll want one of the thicker big wave surfboard leashes.

Depending on when and where you surf, a wetsuit can be crucial to keeping you warm and safe. Because wetsuits can be fairly expensive, though, it’s important to get the right one the first time out. You’ll need to give some thought to whether you’ll need a full or partial wetsuit - and even whether you’ll want a hooded wetsuit.

You’ll also want to think about brand. Even though a lot of products come from the same basic places, remember that top brands have names to defend, and for that reason, their quality control is typically much better than for off-brands. O’Neill wetsuits, for example, are among some of the best.

Depending on where you live, it can be hard to find good gifts for surfers. Even if you happen to be close to the shore, it can be a total pain to drive across town and hope the store has something good. And of course, once you get home, you realize that whatever you grabbed is somehow broken and then you have to drive all the way back to return it - or at that point, maybe you just give up and give cash.

Luckily, the internet makes it easy to find almost anything these days…so with that, enjoy these gifts for surfers.

Snowboarding in Europe is not cheap. Unfortunately for those of us who love the slopes, though, skipping it just isn’t always an option. There are few things greater than surveying the landscape of a new place from the top of a mountain. Except, of course, surveying it while moving rapidly down said mountain.

To help out, we’ve compiled a list of tips we’ve found around the web. Hopefully, you’ll be able to use some of them to decrease the costs on your next trip to Europe. Feel free to add new tips in the comments!

-Skip Switzerland and France. Yes, they’re fantastic, beautiful places, but they’re also extremely expensive. Try one of the eastern European countries instead.

-Bring as much of your own equipment as possible. Renting may be convenient, but if it’s at all possible, bring your own. Remember, though, that if you have to pay for extra bags on the flight to get your equipment over there, the savings may not be worth it. Check out the rental costs and compare them with your airline’s baggage fees.

-Make friends with a local. No matter where you travel, people love to screw the tourists. Just as there are secrets to doing Disney on the cheap, a local can almost definitely help you negotiate a better deal or take advantage of hidden savings. Try to arrive a night early and hit up a local bar or tavern to make friends.

-Make arrangements to stay for several days. Your lift tickets will almost always be cheaper that way.

By following all of these tips, you should be able to knock at least a couple hundred dollars off the cost of your snowboarding trip to Europe. If you have any additional tips, let us know in the comments!
